Eddie “Buddy” Harold Floyd, Jr., age 86, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022, at home.
Mr. Floyd was the son of the late Eddie Harold Floyd, Sr., and the late Effie Lister Floyd. Eddie was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, his first wife, the mother of his children, Jean McAbee Floyd, and his second wife, Connie McClain Floyd.
Mr. Floyd was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where he attended for 28 years without missing a Sunday. He was a farmer, worked at JP Stevens for 14 years, and was a school bus driver, bus driver trainer, and substitute teacher with the Laurens County Board of Education. He was a mentor to many young men and was known as the bubble gum man. He was a member of the Dexter Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Floyd of Dublin; daughter, Jeana Floyd LaRock (Chad) of East Dublin; sons, Eddie Bruce Floyd (Debbie) of Soperton, Mark Jones Floyd (Christy) of Soperton, Marshall R. Floyd (Cathy) of Dublin, Anthony Lee Wooten of Dublin; grandchildren, Jean Davis (Ashley), Brooks Locke, B.J. Floyd (Stephanie), Eddie Floyd (Christina), Whit Locke, Blair Jaworski (Ben), Savannah Locke, Caitlyn Floyd Geiger (Leon), Wade Floyd (Morgan), and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 26, 2022, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, at New Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Grady Mimbs and Rev. Ken Rodgers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Wade Floyd, Eddie Floyd, Coty Floyd, Jesse Brown, Derrick Floyd, and Gene Mullis will serve as pallbearers. Jerry Griffin, Dana Patisaul, and the Men’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
