Edna Kyzer Obituary

Mrs. Edna Lucile Goodman Kyzer, age 68, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2021, with her loving son Jason by her side.

Mrs. Kyzer was born in Sandersville, Georgia on December 21, 1952, to the late James Henry Goodman, Sr. and Helen Fulghum Goodman. She graduated from Brentwood School, Georgia College and State University, and the University of Georgia. Edna was a retired Elementary and Middle School teacher, working at Southwest Laurens Elementary, East Laurens Primary, East Laurens Elementary, East Laurens Middle School, and Trinity Christian School.

Mrs. Kyzer was of the Baptist faith. Along with her late husband Stephen Kyzer, she served as Pastor’s Wife at Central Drive Baptist Church (East Dublin) and Centerville Baptist Church. She also served throughout her life as a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, Pianist, Choir Member, Worship Leader, and as a Vacation Bible School Director. In addition,Mrs. Kyzer was a faithful member of the Gideons Auxiliary for many years.

Mrs. Kyzer had a heart after God for her entire life and was known for her laughter and smiles. Her greatest joys were her family and her church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kyzer was preceded in death by her devoted husband of almost 39 years, Stephen Dwight Kyzer; daughter, Cynthia Renee Kyzer; her loving brother, James Henry Goodman, Jr.; brother-in-law Lanny Carl Barron; and her special uncle and aunt, Wilber and Edna Newsome.

She is survived by her son Jason Kyzer (Shelley); sister Cynthia Barron; grandchildren, Chelsey Warren (AJ) and Clarke Kyzer; brother-in-law Charles Kyzer, Jr. (Judy); sisters-in-law Linda Goodman and Linda Scott (Hal); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.

Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Reverend Larry Waldrep and Reverend Anthony Sherrer will officiate. Reverend AJ Warren, Minister Melissa Matysiak, and Brother Lance Wallace will also minister through music, prayer, and the Word.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Johnson; Rev. Charles Kyzer, Jr.; Charles Kyzer, III; Hal Scott; Matthew Scott; and Tony Screws.

In addition to flowers, the family requests that donations in Mrs. Kyzer’s memory be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 27, Dublin, GA 31040.
