Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Guynell Mathis Mimbs, age 96, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Snowhill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service hour at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mimbs was born September 13, 1927, in Laurens County. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Jonie M. Mathis and Ethel Garnto Mathis; her husband, Olan “Oke” Matthew Mimbs; a son, Charlie Olan Mimbs; a daughter, Sara Nell Mimbs; a grandson, Jimmy Mimbs; and her brothers and sisters, Willie B. Mathis, Tilman Mathis, Claude Mathis, J.T. Mathis, Lillie Pearl Jackson and Lonnie Garnto.
In her free time, when she was not loving on and dancing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed going to yard sales and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. She was retired from Bassett Furniture but has been a homemaker for many years. Mrs. Mimbs passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at her home.
She is survived by her children, Gail Stoll, Annette Mimbs and Robbie Dell Mimbs; her grandchildren, Kristie (Barry) Shepherd, Stephanie (Wally Johnson) Register and Wanda Hart; six great-grandchildren, Iris (Rusty “Russell” Gibson) Martin, Erika (Jayden Thompson) Register, Derek (Lauryn Bennett) Register, Brandi (Elfido) Lopez, Wayne Hart, and Dylan Turner; nine great-great-grandchildren, Tinsley Martin, Lakelynn Gibson, Cash Gibson, Bradyn Gibson, Rustyn Gibson, Hudson Register, Cooper Register, Landon Lopez and Elvia Lopez; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Gibson, Barry Shepherd, Elfido Lopez, Robbie Dell Mimbs, Dylan Turner, and Wayne Hart.
