Ethel “Anita” Young, 81, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on March 11, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.
Anita was born in Dexter, Georgia on August 10, 1941, and grew up in Dexter until she married her husband, Walter. During her married life, she lived in Panama and many different locations while her husband was serving in the military. They moved to Augusta, Georgia after his retirement and later the couple resided in Lincolnton and Thomson. She lived in Thomson since 1991 and was a parishioner of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Anita was a retired Administrator for the Finance Officer at Fort Gordon for many years. She was a staunch republican and supporter of Donald J. Trump. In her leisure time, she enjoyed golfing and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson Robert Evans and Ethel Bedingfield Evans, and her great grandson, Michael Sarber, III; her brothers, Richard C. Evans, Roy J. Evans and Prentice Evans; her sister, Grace Ballard and several other deceased family members. Her survivors include her devoted husband of 58 years, Walter “Walt” Young; her daughters, Sherryll A. Herndon and Maria Ann Cook; her brothers, David A. Evans, James R. Evans and Ray Evans; her sister, Betty Edge; her grandchildren, Joey Sarber, Kaitlen Carlson, Kenneth Carlton Cook, III and Brandon Denton; and her great grandchildren, Landon Burnett, Laina Burnett, Aaron Denton, Luna Grace Cook, Braxton Denton and Avery Cook.
Her Memorial Mass will be at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Thomson, Georgia on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Her interment will be handled by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home of Dublin, Georgia at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dublin, Georgia on Thursday, March 16, 2023, processing from the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family’s personal guestbook.
