Eunice R. Pope, age 85, of East Dublin, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2020.
Mrs. Eunice was born on November 22, 1934 in Dublin to the late E.J. and Annie Mae Wynn Rigby and was one of nine children. She was a Charter member of Tweed Chapel. She married her husband, Sentell Pope, on October 4, 1951. Mrs. Pope taught Sunday school class for elementary students and served as the secretary and treasurer of Tweed Chapel. She and her husband were dedicated employees at J.P Stevens for over 40 years.
On October 4, 2001 she and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She enjoyed fishing and loved her home in the country that she shared with her husband and family. Mrs. Eunice was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. People knew her as a kind and compassionate lady and she was loved by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her; husband, Sentell Pope; brothers, Algerine Garnto, Preston Garnto, James Rigby, and Joe Rigby, and sisters, Murrell Wilburn, Louise Allen, and Edna Graham.
Survivors include her son, Danny Pope (Karen), of Kathleen, FL; daughters, Linda Newsome, of Snellville and Peggy Hodges (Owen), of Dublin; brother, Edward Rigby (Latner), of Thomaston; grandchildren, Brenda Newsome (Scott), of St. Augustine, FL, Jonathan Pope van Bibber (Susan), of Lakeland, FL, Krista Sumner (Scott), of Pensacola, FL, Dr. Zachary Hodges (Jess), of Augusta, and Candace Hodges Capps (Grant), of Macon; great-grandchildren, Conner Pope van Bibber, Ethan Pope van Bibber, and Benjamin Pope van Bibber, all of Lakeland, FL, Aiden Sumner, of Pensacola, FL, and Charlie Hodges and William Hodges, both of Augusta, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Gregg Soles will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Union Baptist Church Fund, Tweed Chapel Church Fund or Serenity Hospice would be appreciated.
