Frances Thigpen, aged 83, passed away on August 23, 2024, in Melbourne, Florida. Born on September 1, 1940, in Dublin, Georgia, Martha was the daughter of the late Barney and Lyma Tipton. She dedicated her life to the caring profession as a Registered Nurse.
Frances began her illustrious career at a psychiatric hospital in Florida and later served as a nurse at Fairview Park Hospital. Her passion for nurturing extended into education, where she instructed many at a nursing school in Dublin, GA. Frances found her true calling in hospice care, where she retired after years of devoted service, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church in Dublin, GA, where she participated actively in community and church activities.
Frances was a loving wife to the late Amberce “Andy” Thigpen and a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Douglas (Angela) Thigpen of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Marcia Johnson of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Kylie (Ryan) Kinsler, Jessica Thigpen, Christopher (Madeline) Johnson, and Daniel Thigpen; great-grandchildren, Roland Morrow, Cooper Kinsler, Parker Johnson, and Warren Kinsler; sisters, Bonnie Nell Cunningham, Nancy Snyder, and Kaye Couey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Russell Tipton; and sister, Dot (Iris) Lowery.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 06, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Dublin, GA. Dr. Darrell Paulk and Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in Thigpen Family Cemetery.
Greg Evans, Ryan Kinsler, David Senn, Matt Lowery, David Holland, and Allen Thomas will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult 3 Sunday School Department of First Baptist Church.
