Fred S. Underwood

Fred S. Underwood, age 94 of Wrightsville, GA passed away in Sandersville, GA on June 3, 2020.

Mr. Underwood was born in Wrightsville, GA on July 3, 1925 to the late James Daniel Underwood and Nina Stokes Underwood. Underwood, a lifelong resident of Wrightsville, was a farmer by trade and a Minister. He was a member of Oaky Grove Church in Wrightsville and he enjoyed traveling to places like Canada and Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Glover Underwood; parents, James and Nina Underwood; brother, Paul Underwood; sister, Helen Underwood Fulghum, and a son, David Fred Underwood.  

Survivors include his son, Danny A. Underwood (Faye); daughter, Susan Jane Underwood Outlaw (William Roger); son, James A. Underwood (Melody), all of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Jason Outlaw (Jane Elizabeth), Leslie Ryals (Wesley), and Crystal Walker (Jason) and great grandchildren, Judson Outlaw, Jace Outlaw, Jolie Rae Outlaw, Faira Walker, Levi Wren Walker, and Grayson Ryals.

A graveside service will be held for Mr. Underwood on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Westview Cemetery in Wrightsville beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tom Akins and Rev. Sonny D. Wilkes will officiate.

A Drop In visitation will be held at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Under the Center for Disease Control guidelines pertaining to social gatherings, the funeral home can only permit 25 visitors at a time in the building. We ask everyone respect these guidelines for the safety and health of everyone.
