Mrs. Gail Odom, age 69, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at her home following a brief illness.
Mrs. Odom was born October 20, 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late James L. Wood and Mary Inez Mullis Wood. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was the owner/operator of Gail’s Flowers and Gifts for 45 years. She was always down for a good laugh and loved playing cards and fishing but her greatest loves in life were her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William Odom; a daughter, Donna (Matt) Sapp; a son, Chad (Leslie) Odom; a granddaughter, Mattie Claire Sapp all of Dexter; two sisters, Brenda (John) Woodard of Chauncey and Sue (Bobby) Lawhorn of Dexter; a brother, James Earl “Bubba” Wood (Kathy) of Dexter and several nieces and nephews; and her four-legged best friend, Festus.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Dexter Baptist Church with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Larry Waldrep will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rob Lawhorn, Jamie Lawhorn, Mitch Lawhorn, Jay Wood, Chad Graham, Michael Hadden, Jason Warren, Richie Brown, Paul Lumley and Brandon Frix.
