Gary Van Ness

Mr. Alan Gary Van Ness, age 72, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at his home.

Gary was born February 26, 1953 in Sarasota, Florida; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Arnold Garrett Van Ness and Ruth Cumming Van Ness. He was a graduate of the F.T. Wills High School in Smyrna and retired from Cobb County Water & Sewer Authority after many years of service.

He is survived by his brother, Kenny (Jennifer) Van Ness of Dublin; two nephews, Brian (Jody) Van Ness of Rincon and Jock (Lori) Padgett of Lewis Center, Ohio; a niece, Kimberly (Josh) Van Ness Pritchett of Gray; great nieces and nephews, Gavin (Shelby Hodges) Van Ness, Olivia Van Ness, Luke Van Ness, Caroline Padgett, Ainsley Padgett and Satilla Pritchett; a great-great nephew, Hudson Hodges; an aunt, Vivian Pennock and several cousins.

A gathering celebrating Gary’s life will be held at a later date.
