Hansi Dobie, a beacon of faith and love, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at the age of 82. Born Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa, on October 1, 1943, to Nicholas and Engela Swarts, Hansi was a cherished figure whose life was a testament to her selfless nature and unwavering spirit.
Hansi was a retired minister who dedicated her life to serving others. Her commitment to her faith was evident in all she did and her work as a minister was not merely a job; it was a calling that she embraced with her whole heart.
Family was the cornerstone of her world. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Dobie; sisters, Meis Bresler and Bekkie Ferreira; and her daughter, Sybil Gerber. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Noleen Olckers (Martin) of Dublin, her son, Robert Dobie (Belinda) of South Africa, and her adored grandchildren Dean Olckers, Tessa Burger, Robert Dobie, Elizabeth Dobie, Francois Gerber, and Arusha Gerber. The joy of her life was further multiplied by the laughter and love of several great-grandchildren.
Hansi's interests were as diverse as they were enriching. Her hands were rarely still as she found great pleasure in playing the piano and in flower arranging and sewing. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, instilling in them the values of kindness, generosity, and faith that she held so dear.
Those who knew Hansi will remember her as faith-filled, loving, and selfless. She was a woman who walked through life with grace, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering support and guidance will be deeply missed, but the impact of her love and teachings will resonate for generations to come.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Dublin Church of God. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Steve Hardeman will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00PM until service hour at the church.
