Helen Ruth (Maddox) Bracewell

Helen Ruth Maddox Bracewell, 89, of East Dublin, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at home of her daughter, June McLendon.

Helen had been living with June, and her husband Gene McLendon, in Morehead City, North Carolina for the past three years.  Previous to that time, Helen and her husband Jimmy lived at 606 Buckeye Road, East Dublin, GA for 61 years. Jimmy and Helen had been married 57 years when he passed away on October 25, 2005. 

Helen was retired from Allen Bradley.

While living with her daughter June and son-in-law Gene, Helen become known as Mother or Nannie to hundreds of people around Hope Mission Ministries where June and Gene are Executive Directors. Hope Mission has a large soup kitchen, homeless services for men and women, emergency financial assistance services, meals on wheels for homebound seniors, thrift store, and substance-abuse services. Helen was the perfect grandmother figure for so many broken people who needed and wanted to be loved and cared for. She loved them all and they loved her back. 

Helen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great- great grandmother. 

She is survived by her daughter, June McLendon and husband Gene, of Morehead City, NC; son, Jimmy Russell Bracewell and wife Verna Jo, of East Dublin; two granddaughters, 7 great-grandchildren , 6 great, great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Baggett Lysaker, of Dudley, GA, and brother, Walter H. Maddox, Jr., of Riverdale, GA.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy L. Bracewell, and her parents, Walter Hanson Maddox and Nell Madelynn Underwood Maddox; Granddaughter, Kimberly Michelle Bracewell Amerson, and Great-Grandson, Kaleb Logan Amerson.

Graveside service will be on November 12, 2021 at 11 AM at the Dublin Memorial Gardens, Hwy 80 West, Dublin, GA.
