Mrs. Helen Leverette, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 16, 2023. She was a native of Treutlen County but had lived in Dublin since 1947. She was a retired cosmetologist of 38 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing genealogical research of her family history. She loved working in her yards, cooking, and sewing. Her greatest passion was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
She was born to James and Pauline Hanson on November 28,1931. Along with her parents, Mrs. Leverette was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emmett ‘Doc’ Leverette; a granddaughter, Missy McDonald; 5 brothers: James, Skeet, Roy, Ed, and Herbert Hanson; and 6 sisters: Joyce Hancock, Paula Waters, Lettie Dixon, Nell Perry, Louise Daniel, and Reba Esposita.
A graveside service for Mrs. Leverette will be held at Dublin Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 11:30AM. Ted Jarriel and Reverend George Grimes will officiate the service.
Mrs. Leverette leaves behind a large number of family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her deeply. Survivors include her daughter Sheryll (Anthony) Peterson; her granddaughter Catelyn Peterson (Jake Stansell); a son, Glenn (Sue) Leverette; a grandson Jason (Liza) Leverette; two great grandsons: Brian (Mollie) Leverette and Peyton Leverette; three great great granddaughters: Emersyn, Wrenleigh, and Remi Leverette; 2 sisters: Grace Edge and Wanda Harden; a brother, Johnny (Donna) Hansel; and a sister-in-law, Laureta Hansel.
Honorary pallbearers are Doug, Angie and Tim Beighley; Joel Laney; Marshall Epperly; Jimmy Ray Wyatt; Anthony, Sheryll, and Catelyn Peterson; and Jake Stansell.
