Herman Johnson

Mr. Herman Chap Johnson, age 74, passed away at his home Tuesday, November 15, 2022, following an extended illness.

Mr. Johnson was born September 8, 1948 in Dublin, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Herschel Johnson and Mary Lou Pool Johnson and two sons, Herman Chap Johnson, Jr. and Kevin Johnson. He was a farmer and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Laurens County Board of Education. He was a member of the East Laurens Young Farmers Association and attended Pleasant Springs Baptist Church.

He was a devoted husband and is survived by his high school sweetheart of 53 years, Gail Snow Johnson of East Dublin; his children, Ivan (Rebecca) Johnson of East Dublin, Marcia Lynn (Andy) Watkins of Dublin and Victor (Katie) Johnson of East Dublin; six grandchildren, Chan (Makayla) Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Madison Johnson, Lindsey Johnson and Presley Gayle Johnson; a great-grandson, Benlee Johnson; a sister, Mary Alice (Dennis) Durden and a brother, John Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Pleasant Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Keith Collins will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Allen, Jeffrey Pullen, Chris Pullen, Kevin Beacham, Allen Wynn and Clint Thigpin.
