Herman Alvin Melton

Herman Alvin Melton, age 76, of Rentz, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 31, 2023.

Mr. Melton was born on July 4, 1947, in Orlando, Florida to the late James Edward Melton and the late Della Busby Miley. He previously worked at Sam Martin Well Company and Easter Seals. He enjoyed painting and making other people smile. One of his greatest joys was sitting outside by the road in front of the Villas on Bellevue waving at people as they passed by.

In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wives, Edna Mae Hulin Melton and Wanda Faye Lumley Melton; sister, Linda Faye Randalls, and Fronnie Belle Melton Williams, and granddaughter, Brittany Spell.

Survivors include his sister, Mattie Alma Horne of Rentz; daughter, Kimberly Melton Browning (Shaun) of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Jerry Melton (Chelsea) of Milledgeville, and Crystal Spell (Nick Carruthers) of Macon; great-grandchildren, Tegan Melton of Milledgeville, Alexis Carruthers of Macon, and Ashley Browning of Dublin; great-great-grandchild, Ashton Browning of Dublin, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Melton will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1st at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home for friends and family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Steve Hardeman will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Chris Tarpley, Wayne Williams, Roy Crabb, William Crabb, Patrick Forzetting, and Emory Brown.
