Iris Mae Adams Cordry, age 96, of East Dublin, GA, passed away on May 4, 2024, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Cordry was born on September 14, 1927, in Dublin, GA, and was raised in Wilkinson County. She was a member of East Dublin Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Mrs. Cordry was a mail carrier in the 1940s at Warner Robins Air Force Base and later worked as a Dietary Supervisor at Washington County Hospital in Sandersville.
She loved going to the Senior Center to socialize and always had a smile on her face for everyone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,
She was preceded in death by her husbands, R.W. Adams and Robert Cordry; parents, Robert and Sennie Payne Martin; son, Kenneth Adams; and infant grandson, Eric Adams.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Adams, of Harrison, GA; daughter, Seree (Brett) Hendrix, of Sandersville, GA; daughter-in-law, Elaine Adams, of Harrison, GA; granddaughters: Amber Blanchard, of Atlanta; Carmen Adams, of Conway, SC; Kascie (Phillip) Oliver, of Brooklet, GA; Kristal (Stephen) Hardee, of Evans, GA; Kandice (Matt) Hartley, of Sandersville, GA; Ashley (Brian) Crews, of Durham, NC; Kendra (Austin) Howard, of Jacksonville, FL. She was a proud grandmother of 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Washington County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Larry McNatt will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hartley, Stephen Hardee, and Phillip Oliver.
