Mr. Jack Lord passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on June 24, 1934, to the late Daniel Oliver Lord and Estoria Anna Thompson Lord, Jack was a beacon of love, generosity, and selflessness throughout his life.
Jack grew up in a close-knit family and was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lyma Manning, Nell Cook, and Thompson Lord. A lifelong farmer, Jack's hands were rarely still, as he was a self-proclaimed workaholic. His dedication to his work was only matched by his dedication to his family. Jack was a long-standing member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where he lived out his faith through action, always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Jack's generous spirit was felt by everyone he encountered. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back without a second thought. His kindness knew no bounds, and he was often the first to offer help to a neighbor or friend. Jack's selfless nature was a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was loved and adored not only by his family but by many friends who were drawn to his warm and caring personality.
His legacy continues through his beloved wife of 63 years, Linda Bradley Lord, with whom he shared a lifetime of joy and dedication. Together, they raised three children, Brad (Laura) Lord, Alan (Melissa) Lord, and Marianna Lord, who were the center of Jack's world. His love extended to his grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Harvey, Kelly (Alston) Burger, Thomas Lord, and Zeke Lord, and his adoration shone brightly upon his three great-grandchildren, Sawyer Burger, Riley Burger, and Dean Harvey. Jack is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Barfoot, Polly Fountain, and Patsy Dixon, who will miss him dearly.
