Dr. James F. Hodges, Jr. age 89 died on Friday, September 3, 2021.
Dr. Hodges was born in Dublin, Georgia on April 1, 1932. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management, a letterman on the varsity track and cross-country teams, and a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant, Ranger. Dr. Hodges received his M.B.A. from Georgia State University. He went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance. Dr. Hodges was a Professor and holder of the Fuller Callaway Chair in Business Administration at Tift College. He retired from Georgia Southern University as Professor Emeritus of Finance and Insurance. He was Vice President of Mizelle, Hodges & Associates. Dr. Hodges was the Educational Consultant with the PIA of Georgia and for the CIC programs. He was President of the Georgia Association of Economics and Finance. He was awarded the C&S Bank Faculty Development Award at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Hodges was selected Outstanding Young Men of America. The PIA of Georgia awarded him the "Best Friend" award for masterminding the tennis tournament as Education Consultant for CIC and for his wit, charm, and humor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dublin.
Dr. Hodges is preceded in death by his son John Frank Hodges. Surviving is his loving wife of 22 years, Kathy Klebe Hodges of Dublin; daughter, Krista Kay Williams (Malcolm) of St. Simons Island, GA; son, Joseph Jay Hodges (Elizabeth), of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Colin Williams (Caitlyn), of Raleigh, NC, John Michael Gil (Augie) of Columbia, SC, Isabelle Hodges, John Carter Hodges, Caroline Hodges, and Zachary Hodges of Greensboro, GA and Kendrick Hodges of Eastman, GA; stepchildren, Nichole Lawson (Harley), and Aaron Ausherman (Robyn); step-grandchildren, Sydney, Asher, and Garrison Lawson, and Jada Ausherman. Much thanks and appreciation to friends and caregivers, Odessia Boyd, Linda Reynolds, and Mary Brown.
A graveside service will be held at Northview Cemetery on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
