James “Jimmy” Edward Passmore, 81, of Dublin, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Passmore was born in Laurens County on September 28, 1939, to the late John Benuard Passmore and the late Sybil Ussery Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Rickey Lee Passmore, and a brother, Tommy Joe Passmore.
Mr. Passmore retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections where he was an officer in Prison Industries at Dodge Correctional Institute. He owned Laurens Marine and Boating in East Dublin in the ’70s. He was once active in Civil Defense. He was also the Agent and Terminal Manager for Railroad Express Agency in the ’60s and ’70s.
Mr. Passmore was an active member of Marie Baptist Church, where he was a member and former co-teacher of the Adult Men’s Sunday School class. He was ordained as a deacon in the early ’70s.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing, working on boat motors, gardening, and yard work. His favorite roles were husband, Daddy, and Papa.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jean Smith Passmore; children: Sandy and Dale Cliatt, Randy and Lori Passmore, Robbie and Rhonda Passmore, and Shannon and Eric Graham; grandchildren: Morgan C. and Eric Wood, Brandon and Callie Cliatt, Kyle and Brooke Passmore, Ryan Passmore, Rex Passmore, Kellie P. and Blake Clements, Tanner Graham (Carson Baggett), Blake Graham, and Tucker Jep Graham; great-grandchildren: Parker Kate and Tyler James Wood, Skylar and Remy Passmore, Thalon Passmore, Adalee Clements, and Bennett Cliatt; sisters and brothers: Sarah P. Williams, John (Sallie) Passmore, Gene (Carlene) Passmore, Nancy P. Page, Deborah P. Miller, and Mary Ann P. Hightower; numerous nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Bo.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Services will be held on Sunday afternoon at Marie Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Bluewater Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Robbie Passmore and Rev. Bobby Hutto will officiate.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. His Sunday School class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
