Jane K. Alligood, devoted mother and wife was called home on May 8, 2024. Her life was characterized by devotion to her husband of 56 years, Billy, and to her two sons. Jane was born on January 16, 1948, to Mr. Alfred and Mrs. Janette Knight of Dexter. She was the youngest of 5 children, and her parents’ only daughter. The epitome of Christian witness and the prime example of the love that Christ calls all of us to share, Jane worked tirelessly in her Antioch Baptist Church community for decades. While her vocation was to always care for her family, her professional life was marked by 33 years of service to the customers of Farmers and Merchants Bank.
To cherish her memory for the time the Lord allows us are her husband, Billy G. Alligood of Dexter, her older son, Mitchell, of Monroe, and her younger son, Whitney, and his wife, Erica of Dublin. She is also survived by her three grandchildren- Sims and Sadie Alligood of Dublin and James McIntyre of Carrollton. Other family members left to revere her memory are her brother and sister-in-law, Burney and Sandra Knight of Dudley, sister-in-law Myrtle Knight of Dexter, and brother-in-law and his partner, Jimmy Alligood and Shirley Willis. Her extended family includes a host of nieces and nephews.
Services are on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM, with a celebration of her joyous life immediately following at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Officiating the services are Rev. Mike Peacock and Rev. Charles Alligood. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Dexter. Pallbearers are Andy Smith, Mitchell Smith, Scott Knight, Jeffrey Alligood, James McIntyre, and Tommy Braswell.
