Mrs. Jane Chapman Perry, age 96, of Dublin, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at her home after a brief illness. She was born on November 3, 1925, in Dublin to the late Farell Chapman and the late Dell Bryans Chapman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Prentice L. Perry, and her brother, Mike Chapman.
Mrs. Perry was a graduate of Dublin High School and Wesleyan College. She worked at her family business, Clyo’s Clothes Cupboard, for many years until its closing in 1980. Then she and her husband catered the various meetings at the Dublin VA CHEP for several years until retiring. Mrs. Perry was a member of Jefferson St. Baptist Church since 1932. She was a faithful member and held many positions of service in her years there, and was a mighty prayer warrior. She loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them all.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Farellyn and Bobby Barentine; Lylah and Mike McAfee; grandchildren: Perry Barentine, Paige Kersey (Chris), Rebecca Ellington (Ed), and Rachel McAfee; great grandchildren: Corban Kersey, Canaan Kersey, Charlie Ellington, and Lylah Jane Ellington; special caretaker, Iris Rozier. Several cousins also survive.
A celebration of Mrs. Perry’s life will be held Saturday, November 27th at 2 pm in the chapel of Jefferson St. Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will be private. Memorial gifts can be made to Jefferson St. Baptist Church or to The Gideons International.
Pallbearers will be Perry Barentine, Chris Kersey, Mike McAfee, Ed Ellington, Jimmy Ray Wyatt, and Manuel Delacruz.
