Jimmy Holland, beloved husband of Fay Evans Holland, passed away on August 25, 2023 at Dublinair Nursing Home under Hospice care after an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Dexter, Georgia, he was the only child of the late James Holland and Nora Hobbs Holland, born on September 14, 1941.
He graduated from Dexter High School, where he participated in track and baseball and met Fay, the love of his life.
As a young man, his Daddy taught him how to plow, plant, and harvest the fields. Jimmy was blessed to live out his “favorite farming hobby” throughout his lifetime.
Jimmy was on the board of the Farm Service Agency for years and the Progressive Rural Telephone Board for 22 years. Jimmy was an Emeritus Member of Dexter Masonic Lodge No. 340.
He was strong in his Christian faith. He was a member of Dexter Baptist Church where he was CEO and deacon and served in many positions of the church. He was a member of the older adult Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Evans Holland, of 62 ½ years; a son, Jeff Holland (Brenda); a daughter, Wendy Rowe (Darron); and his grandson, Garrett Rowe, who he called his buddy.
Funeral services will be conducted by Len Woodard at Dexter Baptist Church on August 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Register, Don Hobbs Jr., Don Bryant, Nicky Taylor, Jimmy Ward, and Terry Holland.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Dexter Baptist Church, the Members of the Progressive Rural Telephone Board, and Danny Hogan.
