John Johnson

Mr. John Ernest Johnson, age 64, passed away at his home April 12, 2025 following an extended illness. In June 2024, he made a joyful profession of Faith.

Mr. Johnson was born November 9, 1960 in Dublin, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Mary Lou Pool Johnson, his brother Herman Johnson, and his nephews Chap Johnson and Kevin Johnson. He was a 1978 graduate of East Laurens High School, and he attended Georgia College in Milledgeville. He was a construction superintendent for various bridge building companies and spent a lot of his working career in the Houston, Texas area. He also spent time in South Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Las Vegas, and New Braunfels, Texas. He loved to go deep sea fishing, enjoyed hunting and was proud of all his nephews and nieces.

He was a devoted brother and uncle and is survived by his sister, Mary Alice (Dennis) Durden of Lyons; sister–in-law, Gail Johnson of East Dublin; nephews and nieces, Sabrina (Andy) Woodruff of Lyons, Ivan (Rebecca) Johnson of East  Dublin, Marcia Lynn (Andy) Watkins of Dublin, and Victor (Katie) Johnson of East Dublin; great nephews and nieces, Chan (Makayla) Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Madison Johnson,  Drew Woodruff, Lindsey Johnson, and Presley Gayle Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2025 in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dwayne Clements will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time on Sunday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Lamar Hodges, Tim Gay, Kenny Wilcher, David Warnock, and Randall Warnock.
