A graveside funeral service for John McKinley Warren, Jr. will be held at 2:00 PM in Dublin Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Mr. Warren was born on November 24, 1926, in Dexter, Georgia.
Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Green Warren, his parents, Mattie Lou Knight Warren and John M. Warren Sr., and a brother, Dr. Howard Warren. He is survived by four children: Bertha (Jimmy) Ward, Martha (Gene) Gaillard, John (Kimberley) Warren, and Dr. Ben (Ann) Warren.
Also, surviving are ten grandchildren: Tara (Brandon) McClure, Erica (Jimmy) Garrett, Jana (Casey) Sirmons, Elaina (Ryan) Harden, Daniel Warren, Benjamin Warren, Kristen Warren, Will Warren, Caroline Warren, and Julia Warren. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren: Tripp Garrett, Jacob Harden, Trae Myers, McKinley Ann Myers, Jiles Garrett, Eva Grace Harden, Ryder Sirmons, Jennings Garrett, Malea Sirmons, Sarah McClure, and Lauren McClure.
Survivors also include a sister, Grace W. Williamson of Dexter, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Dr. Kathryn Powell of Milledgeville. He was also blessed with having Betty Jones, Bernice O'Neal, Carolyn Robinson, and Bernadette Meeks as his loving caregivers.
Mr. Warren was a long-time member, Sunday School teacher, and deacon of Dexter Baptist Church. He was also a member of Gideon's International, Dublin Rotary Club, Laurens Dublin Retired Educators Association, Georgia Retired Educator's Association, and Georgia Cattleman's Association. He was a retired educator and former superintendent of the Laurens County School System. Upon retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle on his farm near Dexter. Mr. Warren passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Rev. Grady Mimbs will conduct the service.
