Johnnie "Joni" Lawrence Obituary

Johnnie "Joni" H. Lawrence, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 89 in Dublin, GA. Born on September 5, 1935, in Macon, GA, Joni was the cherished daughter of the late John and Margaret Tanner Horton. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, the warmth of family, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Joni was a graduate of Adrian High School in Adrian, GA. After graduation, she dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her family and became a treasured member of the Pine Forest Methodist Church community in Dublin. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church family were sources of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.

In her personal life, Joni was a devoted wife to her late husband, Don Lawrence, and a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law, Fred Greene, her granddaughter, Kylie Greene, and her great-grandson, Benjamin "Ben" Greene.

Her legacy of love continues through her son, David Lawrence (Maria) of Dublin, and her daughter, Terri Garijanian (Peter) of Locust Grove, GA. Her grandchildren, Kessler Lawrence of Atlanta, Hill Lawrence of Dublin, and Landon Greene of Locust Grove, GA, will forever cherish the memories of their doting “Noni”. Joni also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Joni was an avid reader and had a green thumb which was evident in the beautiful amaryllis bulbs she planted at each home she lived in, a tradition that brought beauty to her surroundings and joy to her heart. Joni's passion for the Georgia Bulldogs was unmatched; she was a die-hard fan who never missed a game, cheering on her team with enthusiasm and pride.

Her love extended beyond her human family to her grand-fur babies, Roux, Bowie, Cricket, Kiefer, and Luna. The affection between Joni and her furry companions was mutual, and their presence brought her immense happiness.

Mrs. Lawrence will be laid to rest beside her husband at Poplar Springs Methodist Church, in Adrian, GA in a private family graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joni’s memory to Pine Forest Methodist Church, 400 Woods Ave., Dublin, GA 31021.
