Joyce Maxine King, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Dublin, GA, at the age of 90. Born on February 24, 1935, in Lyons, GA, Joyce was the cherished daughter of the late Hubert Young and Clara Bell Bush. She was also the loving granddaughter of George and Annie Young, and Jordan and Alice Bush, and the beloved niece of her special aunt, Alice Young, all of whom predeceased her. Joyce's life was marked by the deep bonds of family, including her late husband, Larry King, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.
Joyce's legacy continues through her devoted children, Gail Durden (Wilson) of Helena, GA, and Ricky Richardson (Alexia) of Dublin. She was the proud grandmother to Hope Salyer (Rob) of Eastman, Clarissa Abbott (Brent) of Helena, Nicole Phagan (Stephen) of Cochran, Jon Eric Richardson of Valdosta, Lindsey Richardson of St. Louis, MO, and Hannah Surine (Matt) and Sarah Shiver, both of Dublin. Her joy was multiplied with the birth of each of her several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward, life long friends, Sue and Steve Lindsey and Karole Davis.
She is also survived by her brother, Maxwell Young (Judy) of Vidalia, and her niece, Tammy Young, who will remember her fondly for her loving guidance and thoughtful nature.
Joyce dedicated many years of service as a physical therapist at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her care and expertise. She was a member at the First Christian Church, where her faith-filled presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.
Those who knew Joyce will recall her passion for cooking, which was just one of the ways she expressed her love for family and friends. A strong woman who loved being in control, Joyce was the matriarch who brought people together, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will be deeply missed.
Joyce’s family would like to personally thank Georgia Hospice and Twelve Oaks Assisted Living for their loving care.
