Deloris Juanita Sirmons, affectionately known as Juanita to her friends and family, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Born on August 1, 1942, in Fort Valley, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Noah Lowell Jones & Linnie Estelle Burke Jones and three brothers, Ray Jones, Doug Jones and Charles Jones.
Juanita retired as a machine operator from Forstmann and Company, where she was respected for her diligence and dedication. Juanita attended Pinehill Church, where her faith was an essential part of her life. Her involvement in the church community was a testament to her belief in kindness and service to others. Juanita’s interests were a reflection of her adventurous and loving spirit. She had a passion for line dancing, which brought her immense joy and allowed her to form lasting friendships. Her love for the outdoors was evident in the care she took of her flower gardens, which were full of color. Traveling was another of Juanita’s favorite activities, exploring new places and experiencing different cultures brought her great excitement. She often embarked on Senior Bus Trips, making memories and sharing laughter with fellow adventurers. These experiences were cherished moments that Juanita held dear. Those who knew Juanita would describe her as a loving, kind, and adventurous soul. She approached life with a sense of wonder and an open heart, always ready to embrace new experiences and meet new people. Her legacy is one of love, joy, and the courage to live life to the fullest. Though she enjoyed many things, her greatest love was spending time with her family.
She shared a blessed union of 66 years with her husband, Billy Sirmons, of Dublin. Together, they raised a family that was her pride and joy: her children, Jean Sawyer of Dexter, Steve (Wendy) Sirmons of Sardis, Tina Adkins of Dudley, Sonya (David) Kersey of Ellijay, and Brad (Michelle Evans) Sirmons of Culpepper, VA. Juanita was the matriarch of a large and loving family, which included 29 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will all miss her deeply. Juanita’s sister, Mary Jo Bracewell of Dublin, and a special niece, Teresa Barron, also of Dublin, along with numerous other nieces and nephews, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, January 21, 2024 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Sirmons and Rev. Alan Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Buckhorn Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Sirmons, Shawn Hattaway, Cole Spires, Cade Spires, Bryer Smith and Ben Smith.
