Julian "Steve" S. Moore, Jr.

Julian Stephen Moore, Jr., 85 of Dublin, GA passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, after a 10-year battle with cancer.   

Steve was born on November 9, 1935, to Julian S. Moore and Pauline Gresham Moore.  He grew up in Hamilton, Georgia, and Gainesville Florida. Mr. Moore attended Gainesville High School and was a proud graduate of the University of Florida.  He never missed an opportunity to support the football team by wearing a Gator shirt or tie.  Mr. Moore was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and was a Navy veteran and served aboard the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid.  He retired from Oconee Electric Membership Corporation with 30 years of service.  

 Steve was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Dublin where he operated the sound booth for several years.  Mr. Moore was a member of the Dublin Rotary club for 40 years where he held several offices.  Steve also volunteered with Boy Scouts of America and served in many capacities including District Chairman and Council Executive Board Member and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to young people within a BSA local council.  Steve also was involved in the Dublin Amateur Radio Club.  

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Julian Moore, mother, Polly Moore, wife, Peggy Moore, and daughter Anne Moore Reaves.   

Mr. Moore is survived by his daughter Joyce Moore Loughran (Robert) of Winder, GA; grandsons Andy Coleman and Matt Coleman of Dublin, GA; granddaughter Lauren Spiler (Braden) of Athens, GA; cousin Linda Moore Lewis (Barry) of Winston Salem, NC. 

Per Mr. Moore’s wishes, there will be no visitation.  Graveside services for Mr. Moore will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 11 am at Social Circle City Cemetery in Social Circle, GA.  

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dublin First United Methodist Church, 305 West Gaines St. Dublin, GA 31021, the Rotary Foundation, 1105B Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021 or Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021.
