Katie Lee (Tally) Vestal

Katie Lee Tally Vestal, age 100, of Dublin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Vestal was born in Douglas, Georgia, on April 17, 1922, to the late Edgar Sydney Tally and the late Katie Lee Sims Tally. She married Alan Luther Vestal on December 15, 1942, and they were married for 69 years before his passing in 2012. Katie retired from Roydon Wear, Inc., and was a resident of McRae for over 60 years before moving to Dublin to be close to her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McRae but had been attending the First Baptist Church of Dublin for the last 10 years. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Vestal was preceded in death by eight siblings: Robert Tally, Oren Tally, Burton Tally, Ed Tally, Spencer Tally, Annie Bell Webb, Minnie Lee Gibson, and Mary Tally.

She is survived by her children, Alan (Bettie) Vestal of Clemmons, NC, Donna (Ronn) Ross of Valdosta, George (Charlotte) Vestal of Vienna, and Mike (Deborah) Vestal of Dublin; ten grandchildren: Alan Lee (Christina) Vestal, Melanie Vestal, Paul (Holly) Vestal, Natalie (Dan) Chesson, George (Sarah) Newbern, John (Stacie) Newbern, Katie (John) Giles, Sara (Brandon) Massey, Michael (Amber) Vestal and Matthew (Kristen) Vestal;  nineteen great-grandchildren: Isabel Vestal, Sam Vestal, Joshua Vestal, Ian Vestal, Jasmine Hofmann, Kierra Newbern, Wyatt Newbern, Emory Newbern, Judy Kate Newbern, Caroline Giles, Phillip Giles, Ava Massey, Sam Vestal, Owen Vestal, Mary Katelyn Vestal, Caroline Vestal, Jack Vestal, Will Vestal, and Luke Vestal, and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Vestal will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. A private family burial will follow in Telfair Memorial Garden. Dr. Cliff Morris and Dr. Darrell Paulk will officiate.
