Kevin Jason McLendon, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 51. Born June 22, 1974, to Gerald and Margie Darsey McLendon, Kevin was a lifelong resident of Dublin, where he cultivated a life filled with love, friendship, and service.
Kevin was a proud 1993 graduate of East Laurens High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and established his reputation as a friendly and gentle soul. His thirst for knowledge and skill development led him to obtain a HVAC diploma from the Heart of Georgia Technical College and a welding diploma from Oconee Fall Line Technical College. These skills served him well throughout his career, most recently as a valued employee at North American Signal Company, and previously at Rockwell Automation. He was an avid collector of GI Joe and Star Wars memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Walker McLendon, and together they raised two wonderful sons, Preston Lee McLendon and Jackston Walker McLendon; his parents, Gerald and Margie McLendon; his brother, Stacy (Marilou) McLendon; his parents-in-law, Rickey and Jackie Walker; his sister-in-law, Marie Walker (Tommy Veal); his brother-in-law, Adam Walker; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will all miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hulin & Reba Edge Darsey and Clarence & Alma Wynn McLendon, who instilled in him the values of family and community.
A man of faith, Kevin was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church but has attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 2004, where he nurtured his spiritual life and formed a community of fellowship. His commitment to service was further exemplified through his involvement with Boy Scouts of America Troop 532, where he influenced the lives of young men with his wisdom and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Rev. Greg Lowery and Rev. Larry Waldrep officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Reed Waldrep, Tommy Veal, Brayden Bedgood, David Moye, Paul Moye, Brent Redfern, Christopher McLendon and Seth McLendon.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the funeral home.
