LaVerne Burney Fowler passed away on January 13, 2021, at Addington Place in Dublin, GA.
Born December 28, 1930, she was the second child of Robert Franklin Burney and Mamie Scarborough Burney. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Thomas Fowler, her parents, sisters, Doris Elizabeth Burney, Gladys Edna Thorn, Hilda Elias; and brothers, Charles Burney and Robert Hildon Burney.
She is survived by sisters, Joyce (David) Childers, and Brenda (R.F.) Ryals of Dublin, Lenda (Dave) Dillard of Crossville, TN, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church in Macon, GA. After graduating from Cadwell High School, she moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in nursing where she worked at Crawford W. Long Hospital. She returned to Macon where she worked as a nurse at Riverside Clinic, followed by working in physician's offices for over 40 years until her retirement from Dr. Dempsey Brown, General Surgeon.
Over the years she enjoyed planting and caring for a variety of flowers. Known by family, friends, and co-workers for her excellent cooking/baking skills, she frequently shared with those who were ill, and for special occasions. Family members remember the delicious fudge she always made at Christmas.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Middle Ground Cemetery, Dodge County Georgia.
The family wishes to thank the sitters who helped with her care over the past two and one-half years.
