Larry Royce Evans, age 74, of Thomasville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born June 27, 1951, in Macon, GA, the son of Royce Elmer Evans and Eloise Rewis Evans.
Larry graduated from Mark Smith High School in Macon, GA, in 1969. He joined the United States Air Force in 1970, and served until honorably discharged in 1973. While in the Air Force he was stationed at Westover AFB in Massachusetts, Hahn AFB in Germany and Loring AFB in Maine. He went to Middle Georgia State College graduating in 1982 and Mercer University, earning a Bachelor degree in Industrial Management in 1990.
Larry married Catherine Carter Evans on August 8, 1970.
Larry retired from Oil-Dri Corporation of America after working as an MSHA inspector for the United States Government and Dry Branch Kaolin. He especially loved genealogy research, WWII history, the Godfather movie series, cruising and traveling the world.
Remaining to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife, Cathy; daughters, Beth Evans Hancock (Jimmy) and Mary Ann Bussell (Daniel), grandchildren, Zacarias Hancock, William Hancock (Annie), Madison Bussell, and Evan Bussell; brother, Ricky Evans; sisters, Cheryl Wade (Gene) and Teresa Wilkinson (Scott); brother in law, Mason Carter (Genia); sister-in-law, Ellen Brown (Rusty); and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Larry in death are his parents, Royce and Eloise Evans.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1 pm to 3 pm and the funeral service will be at 3 pm at Snow Hill Baptist Church, Cadwell, GA with Rev. Gene Wade officiating. Interment will be at Snow Hill Baptist Church. Military Honors will be conducted by 2ndLT William Hancock, U.S. Army and 2ndLt Evan Bussell, U.S. Marines.
Memorial donations in Larry’s memory may be directed to Snow Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 7, Cadwell, GA 31009, to the attention of Kenneth Warren.
