Mr. Leon D. Morris, age 74, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at his home following a brief illness.
Mr. Morris was born October 11, 1947 in Dublin, Georgia; he was preceded in death by his parents, the late Leon Morris and Eunice McCoy Morris; wife, Duelene Franks Morris; three brothers, Monta Morris, Deotis Morris and Lyvon Morris and a sister, Mary Rose Bryant. He was retired from the Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority as the maintenance supervisor. He was a graduate and member of the East Laurens High School basketball team. As a student, Leon had perfect attendance from 1st grade through 12th grade. Beside sports such as baseball and softball, he enjoyed anything outdoors including hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Brown Morris of Dublin; three daughters, Terrie (Stephen) Coxwell of East Dublin, Ginger Newman of East Dublin and Belinda (Jake Smith) Rozar of Rentz; a son, Bruce (Courtney) Rozar of Rentz; grandsons; Cole (Kenzie) Rozar of Rentz, Bryant Newman of East Dublin, Chandler Coxwell of East Dublin and Rhyker Rozar of Rentz; granddaughters, Carmann (Bryson Edge) Newman of Rentz, Taylor Rozar of Rentz, Karstyn Rozar of Rentz; two great-granddaughters, Braelynn Edge and Brylynn Edge both of Rentz; three sisters, Kathy Loyd of Minter, Patricia Dominey of Sandersville and Lynette Taylor of Oklahoma and several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 21, 2022 at Graham Memorial Church of the Nazarene with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Kelly Maddox will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until funeral hour at the church.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Owens, Garry McCord, Brian Mallette, Darrell Edge, John Vic Thigpen and Bruce Mimbs.
The staff of Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority will serve as honorary pallbearers.
