James Leslie Henderson, affectionately known as Leslie by his loved ones, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on September 16, 2025, in East Dublin, GA. Born on July 30, 1955, in Vidalia, GA, Leslie lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family, his faith, and his community.
Leslie's early years in Vidalia and Dublin were shaped by the loving guidance of his parents, the late James Thomas Henderson, Sr. and Bronnell Fulford Graziani. He shared his childhood with his siblings, including his late sister Gail Allen, his brother James Thomas Henderson, Jr., and sister Marie Barbee. Leslie's family grew to include his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathy Fountain Henderson, his cherished children, Angie Lawson (Shannon) and Michael Henderson (April), and his adored grandchildren, Austin (Lauren) Lawson, Alexis (Dylan) Sullivan, Gage Driscoll, Gabrielle "Gabby" Kennedy, and Jaiden Kennedy.
After proudly serving in the United States Navy, Leslie returned to his Georgian roots and embarked on a successful career. He was a founding partner of Quality Trenching Company and Kable Lay Construction. He later retired from ATT as a skilled Underground Cable Installer. These ventures not only showcased his work ethic but also his deep-seated belief in the value of hard work and integrity.
Leslie's commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement at Bethlehem Baptist Church. As a member and deacon, he was often the first friendly face to greet everyone who entered the church. His role on the security team at the church further exemplified his dedication to the safety and well-being of all those around him.
An avid outdoorsman, Leslie relished the time spent deer hunting and honing his marksmanship at the rifle range. These moments in nature were among his most treasured, providing not only recreation but also a sense of peace and solitude.
His best friend and loyal companion, his dog Buddy, was a constant source of joy and friendship. Together, they shared countless hours of companionship and outdoor adventures.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Sumner and Rev. Matt Haywood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church.
