Lewis Franklin (L.F.) Murkerson

A graveside service for Mr. Lewis Franklin (L.F) Murkerson, age 85, will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Jack Lee and Rev. Greg Lowery will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, November 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandkids as well as Sebastian Wilbanks.

L.F. Murkerson was born in Dodge County to the late Lee Frank Murkerson and the late Linnie Curry Murkerson on January 11, 1938. He was a 1955 graduate of Cadwell High School. He enjoyed cutting grass after retirement. He loved baseball. L.F. is famously remembered for playing baseball while barefoot. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, and brother. He passed away Friday, November 3, 2023.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Grace Upshaw Murkerson; granddaughter, Emily Grace Murkerson; sisters, Joyce Rowland and Breace Mullis; and brothers, Clinton “Bo” Murkerson, Aubrey Murkerson, Edward “Nooks” Murkerson, Bill Murkerson, Bert Murkerson, and Mitchell Murkerson.

He is survived by his son, Don (Gale) Murkerson of Dublin; daughter, Rhonda (Robbie) Passmore of Cochran; daughter, Rhetta (Dave) Fifer of Cadwell; granddaughter, Sarah (Josh) Warnock; grandson, Kyle Register; grandson, Ryan (Jessica) Passmore; grandson, Vaughan (Emily) Murkerson; grandson, Rex Passmore; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fleeda Murkerson; and several nieces and nephews.
