Lillian Louise Register Jones, age 94, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Dublin, GA. Born on April 22, 1931, in Rockledge, GA, Lillian's life was a tapestry of love, faith, and creativity that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Martha Genola Johnson Register and Lee Luther Register; her devoted husband, Ralph Edwin Jones; her cherished grandson, Marc Flury; her siblings, Lilly, Talmadge, JC, Luther Register, and Marie Register Crooms; her brother-in-law, Bernard Crooms; and her nephew, Johnny Register. Her legacy continues through her loving daughters, Sue Ellen (Tim) Flury and Melanie (Danny) Newman; her grandsons, Mike (Amy) Flury, Heath (Whitney) Holmes, and Dr. Holby Holmes (Sara Andrews); her six great-grandchildren, Robert Nathaniel Flury, Leah Rae Flury, Tanner Saige Holmes, Kolbie Jo Holmes, Iva Lyn Holmes, Beckett Heath Holmes; and one great-great-grandson, Collin Alexander Wagoner. Lillian's professional life was marked by her compassionate service as a house parent at the Georgia Academy for the Blind, where she made a significant impact on the lives of many students. She also worked for F.W. Woolworth for many years and was employed there when the manager was arrested for opening on Sunday’s. Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she was a dedicated member of the Dublin Church of God on Telfair St. Lillian's commitment to her church was evident in her many contributions, including cooking and serving spaghetti dinners to fund the addition of a new sanctuary, establishing the first visitation program, and creating beautiful flower arrangements that adorned the church.
Her artistic talents were manifold and widely recognized. Lillian was a gifted artist whose pencil sketch of her grandson won first place and was included in an exhibition that toured Georgia. She was also a published poet, whose words captured the beauty and depth of the human experience. Her artistry extended to her exquisite cross-stitched pieces and her paintings, which often featured flowers, her family, and the old Johnson homestead.
Lillian's culinary skills were legendary, especially her luscious coconut cream pies, her sour cream coconut multi-layered cake, and her icebox fruitcake, which were favorites at family gatherings and church events.
Described as loving, faith-filled, and creative, Lillian's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Her warm presence and the beauty she brought into the world will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
