Services for Lynette B. Rodgers who passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 15th, at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour on Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate.
Lynette was born in Plymouth, North Carolina on February 20, 1936, to the late Raymond L. Barber and the late Beulah Barber. Lynette graduated from Plymouth High School in 1954 and married her high school sweetheart, Omega Rodgers, the following year. Omega's skills in the paper industry moved the two of them to Arkansas, South Carolina, and three different cities in Georgia.
Dublin became their home in 1974 when Omega joined Southeast Paper Company. Lynette soon began in-depth Bible Studies at Dublin First Baptist Church where God impressed upon her heart that all talents are from God and should be used for His Glory. She was an active member of the Winsome Sunday School Class. She had a beautiful voice that could be distinguished in the back of the church under the balcony. With great persuasion, she became part of the Chancel Choir. She was a creative floral designer and worked in several local shops: Garden Gate, Classic Florist, and Luella's. Every arrangement Lynette created had the touch of the Master's Hand. With these talents, she was an active member of the Erin Garden Club.
Her servant's heart engaged her as a Pink Lady, a volunteer at the Laurens County Hospital. As a team, she and Omega had a heart for young people. In addition to nurturing their daughter and son, they loved and mentored friends' children as if they were their own.
Lynette's leadership talent was evident when she became a member of the Dublin Service League and served one year as President. She stayed active all ten years giving her the title of a "True Blue" member.
After Omega's death in 2003, Lynette continued to live in the place she called home until 2016 when she moved to Richmond Hill to be near their children.
Having been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a great-grandson, Lynette is survived by her daughter, Janet Anderson of Augusta, GA, and a son, Stephen W. Rodgers (Laurie) of Richmond Hill, GA; grandchildren: Tripp Mims (Regina), Nick Mims (Jenny) of Augusta, Wes Rodgers (Lucy), Seth Rodgers of Richmond Hill, and Maggie Rodgers Jennings (Ryan) of Savannah; four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Bobby Barber (Greta) of Plymouth, N. C.
