Margie Alligood Obituary

Margie Nell Ward Alligood, age 88, of Dexter, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Mrs. Alligood was born on April 1, 1936, in Laurens County to the late Prentice and Lollie Pittman Ward. She was retired from JP Stevens and enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a former member of the Red Hat Society. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Emory Alligood; sisters, Evelyn Dean McKinney, Marie Howell, Hazel Cliatt, and Willene Williams.

Survivors include her son, Charles Alligood of Dexter; daughters, Deborah Thigpen of Dexter, and Linda Kersey (Mark) of Key Stone Heights, FL; grandchildren, Dan Kersey, Ashley Graham, Cory Foskey, and Matt Foskey; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Rentz with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Calvin Holcomb will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service hour at the church.

Pallbearers will be Greg Williams, Dale Cliatt, Michael Cliatt, Dan Kersey, Matt Foskey, and Cory Foskey.
