Marilyn Deloach

Marilyn Frances Deloach, 89, of Dexter, Georgia, a beacon of joy and beauty in both her profession and presence, passed away on January 27, 2024, at the age of 89, in Wrightsville, Georgia.

She was born on June 7, 1934, in Dexter, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late, Clifford Augustus Silas and Mattie Bell Wood Silas, her husband, Vernon Lee Deloach, a great-grandchild, Brooklyn Reese Miller, and three sisters, Jeanelle Mullis, Virginia Hobbs and Matrelle Silas. Marilyn's life was a masterful blend of love, laughter, and the kind of smile that could light up the darkest room.

As the former owner/operator of Marilyn's Beauty Shop for a fabulous 40 years, she not only set the town's hair but also its heart. Marilyn and Vernon were crowned Dexter's Citizens of the Year in 2013, an honor as fitting as a perfect hairdo.

A faithful member of Dexter Baptist Church, Marilyn made every pew a little brighter. Her hobbies were as rich and varied as her cooking spices – from the serenity of fishing, the triumph of a well-tended garden, to the festive flurry of a family Christmas, her favorite time of the year.

She leaves behind a legacy of love with her three daughters, Deborah (Ray) Thomas, Fran (Jeffery) Dominy, and Jan (Dewitt) Moses; her five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; adopted son, Kenny (Tamanie) Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Dexter Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Larry Waldrep officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
