Marjorie Dasher Obituary

Marjorie "Margie" Scarbrough Dasher was ushered into heaven in the early morning of Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, surrounded by her family.  She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, a proud grandmother, and a friend to all.  She was born on July 31, 1950, in Dublin, Georgia, to William "Freeman" Scarbrough and Sallie Scarbrough Wilkes.  She married Thomas "Jerry" Dasher on August 22, 1971, at East Dublin Baptist Church in Dublin, Georgia.  After living a short time in Atlanta, Jerry and Margie returned to Dublin, where they proudly raised their children, Mark and Sarah.  Margie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she always looked for opportunities to serve and share the love of Christ with others.

Margie was an incredible asset at every place she worked, from Warner Robins High School to Dublin Eye Associates, but her greatest love was found as "Miss Susie Dasher" at Susie Dasher Elementary.  While serving as the secretary, she found a way to meet the material needs of countless children, encouraged them to be the best they could be, and loved each one as her own.  We will never know the true impact she made on those children while working at the school, but certainly, they impacted her life just as much.  Margie was always a servant in every area.  Whether she was providing meals for neighbors, sharing flowers with friends, or sewing items for those in need, she had an impeccable way of seeing a need and meeting it.  One of her favorite places to serve was alongside the "Steel Magnolias" at First Baptist Church.  She taught preschoolers for many years, planned Sunday school meals, cooked for children at Vacation Bible School, among many other things.  Margie truly understood the value of her faith community and was never content to just sit on the sidelines as a member.  She was always ready to serve anywhere when needed! But above all the people and places she served, her greatest joy was her eight grandchildren.  She was never too busy for bubbles, jumping on the trampoline, a McDonald's drive-thru, or building sand castles on the beach.  No title fit her more perfectly than that of "Gigi!" She loved every second spent with them and left them with a thousand precious memories!

Margie is survived by Thomas "Jerry" Dasher, her loving husband of 50 years; two children, Mark Bradley Dasher (Nona) and Sarah Dasher Marlin (Jason); her mother, Sallie Scarbrough Wilkes; a brother, Mike Scarbrough (Debbie); eight grandchildren, Jack Marlin, Cooper Dasher, Max Marlin, Maggie Marlin, Gray Marlin, Riley Dasher, Annie Marlin, and Knox Marlin; in addition to many extended family members and precious friends.  She is preceded in death by her son, Jon Gregory Dasher; her father, William "Freeman" Scarbrough; and her brother, William "Gerald" Scarbrough.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Townsend Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.  The service will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM.   A private graveside service will be held for family only at Dublin Memorial Gardens.  Dr. Fred Williams and Dr. Jason Marlin will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church, 405 Bellevue Drive, Dublin, Georgia 31021.

Pallbearers will be Gil Allen, Cooper Dasher, Michael Davis, Lewis Kemp, Jack Marlin, and Max Marlin.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff of the Cancer Center of Middle Georgia and Agape Care Group, for their sincere love and kindness to our family, as well as all of our friends and family that have loved us beyond measure!
