Marlene Lane Boyer passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Dublin, Georgia, at the age of 92. She was born November 18, 1933, in Treutlen County, but has made her home in Laurens County for the past 72 years. Marlene was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel D. Lane and Annie Lewis Lane.
Marlene was preceded in death not only by her parents but by her husband of 66 years, William Bryant Boyer, her four sisters, and four brothers. Her legacy continues through her loving daughters, Lynne Drew and Dr. Carol Boyer; her adoring granddaughters, Dana Faircloth and Dr. Kimberly (James) Castle; and her precious great-granddaughter, Anna Castle. She also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember her nurturing spirit.
For 20 years, Marlene served as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney. Her work ethic and the friendships she formed with her colleagues and customers were a testament to her loving nature. Marlene was a member of Rockledge Methodist Church, where she shared her faith and kindness with her church family.
Lovingly known as "Bird" to her friends and family, Marlene's nurturing soul shone brightest when she was taking care of others. She had a fierce love for her girls, always putting their needs and dreams at the forefront of her life. Her home was a haven of comfort and love, thanks to her outstanding cooking skills, especially her renowned cakes and holiday candy. Marlene was also a skilled and talented cross-stitcher, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured for generations.
Gardening was another of Marlene's joys, tending to her flowers and plants with a gentle hand. She was an avid bird and butterfly watcher, finding peace in the simple beauty of nature. The night sky was another source of wonder for Marlene; she was fascinated by the moon and the stars, often sharing her knowledge and awe with her family.
