Martha Jo Maddox, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at her home in East Dublin, Georgia. Born on April 19, 1940, in Dublin, Georgia, Martha lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and the simple joys of gardening and nature.
Martha was the beloved wife of the late Ben Maddox, with whom she shared 56 years of unwavering partnership and love. Together, they built a legacy of warmth and compassion, setting an example of true companionship for their children and grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie B. Scott and Ethel Ward Scott, as well as her siblings, Lonnie Scott, Jr., Jimmy Scott, Elizabeth Scott Holliday, Bobby Scott, and Ronald Scott, who all left a profound impact on her life.
She leaves behind a family who adored her, including her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tammy Maddox of Macon; her son Tim Maddox of East Dublin; and her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Judd and Michael Corozine of East Dublin. Martha's legacy will live on through her grandchildren: Cameron Maddox Billingsley, Meghan Maddox, Parker Maddox Knight, Ashlie Maddox (Casey Schaffer), Casey Maddox, Robin Maddox Schrader (Jared), Addie Judd Powell (Austin), and Benjamin Judd (Erica). Her great-grandchildren Jonathan Sweat, Chance Lewis, Lylie Dimmen, Alysah Dimmen, Adam Judd, Adalee Schaarschmidt, Zoey Judd Schaarschmidt, Baylee Judd, Khole Judd, Ryder Judd, Cole Schrader, Jett Schrader, Emily Maddox, Jaxon Schrader, and Micah Maddox, as well as her great-great-grandchildren Piper Sweat and Liam Sweat, will also cherish her memory.
Martha was a member of the former East Dublin Baptist Church. She relished in the family meals, the laughter shared around the table, and the opportunity to nurture and support her loved ones. Her home was a haven of warmth, where everyone was always welcome.
An avid gardener, Martha found peace among her flowers and plants. Her garden was a testament to her patience, care, and the beauty she brought into the world. It was in this space that she reflected on the blessings of life and instilled a sense of wonder and respect for nature in her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Dr. Douglas Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Matt Peebles, Gunner Beasley, Cody Mason, Tazz Franice, Nolan Fulghum and Bobby Knowles.
