Mary Elizabeth Evans

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Evans, age 90, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Rev. George Grimes officiating. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Evans was born March 4, 1934 in Treutlen County, Georgia; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Edgar Davis and Ruth Wood Davis; her husband, Preston Evans; a brother, Alvin Davis and a sister, Alta Music. Before her husband passed away and her health declined, she attended Olivet Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. She also enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening and doing crossword puzzles. For many years she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the American Red Cross. Mrs. Evans passed away Monday, December 16, 2024.

She is survived by her children, Sheila (Bobby) Morris of Oxford, Billy R. (Karen) Kight, Bobby J. (Susan) Kight, R. Larry (Kathy) Kight all of Dublin; a sister, Kate Hutto of Jesup; a brother, Danny Davis of Dudley; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home.
