Mary Henderson Hobbs passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025 in Dublin, Georgia not long after her 90th birthday celebration with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Her 90 years were filled with love for her Savior, family and friends. She was born August 22, 1935, in Collegeboro (now Statesboro) Georgia to the late Zach and Marjorie Henderson. During her childhood, she and her family shared music in churches and gatherings at the college where her father, Zach, was Dean and President. After her graduation from Statesboro High School, she attended and graduated from Georgia Teachers College with an English Education degree. She then married Billy Hobbs of Dexter, GA in 1957.
She was the loving mother of Janet, Frank, Ellen, and Susan and took much joy in raising her family. She was also very involved at Dublin First United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School and working with the youth and choir. After her children grew up, she courageously returned to college to get a second degree in Early Childhood Education and began teaching kindergarten at the age of 54. She taught for 22 years and loved on many children at East Laurens Primary School. This abundant love was also experienced by her seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. What a legacy she left! Even in her last years, she was full of life, energy, fun and sass and kept us smiling until the very end! She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Henderson, and her daughter, Janet Hobbs Webster and is survived by her sister, Ann Henderson Williams (Jay), her children - Frank Hobbs (Lyn), Ellen Ross (Chuck), Susan Moore (David); grandchildren – Luke Webster (Jeanine), Jake Webster (Kathryn), Boone Webster (Ashly), Cole Webster (Chelsea), Jessica Odhiambo (Fred), Laine Lunsford (Jacob), Adam Ross, Ryan Ross (Elaina), Daniel Moore (Victoria), Zac Moore (Rachael), Elise Moore, Eli Moore (Avery), Jonah Moore, Rebecca Moore, Johanna Moore, twenty great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
