Mary Meeks Obituary

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Deloney Meeks, our Mama and Nanny departed this life on September 29, 2025, peacefully in her sleep at home among family. Mary loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and displayed the love of God in Christ Jesus toward her family, friends, and everyone she met; she will be greatly missed.

Mary was born May 21, 1930, in Elba, Alabama to her parents James Joseph Deloney and Dixie Pilcher Deloney. Shortly after her birth, Mary moved with her family to Jacksonville, FL where she attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and later Stetson University where she met the love of her life; Bill Meeks, who preceded her in death in2017 following 65 years of marriage. Mary and Bill were both educators in several school districts in the state of Georgia and she retired from the Dublin City School system.

Mary was preceded in death by bother James Joseph Deloney, sister Sarah Marjory Deloney Williams, and brother George Alfred Deloney, infant son David Martin Meeks, grandson Ashley Joseph Pittman, and daughter in law Heather Krone.

Surviving Mrs. Meeks is her daughters Carol Denise Meeks [Aaron Butler];Patricia Anne Meeks (John Woodard);son Billy Meeks (Bernadette Montez Meeks);niece Mary Elizabeth Patton Wells, nephew Jonathon Joesph Williams, four grandsons: David Wade Pittman (Erin Cook); William Edward Meeks III (Jena Guida); Brian Campbell (Dawn Campbell); and Mathew Joseph Meeks (Marie Meeks) four granddaughters Pamela Woodard Howell (Byron Howell); Shannon Meeks Green (Jarvis Green); Margaret Woodard Guarardo (Eli Guarardo); Brett Woodard Reed (Cameron Reed) and 18 great grandchildren William Edward Meeks IV, Davis Tanner Meeks, Dakota Meeks, Anthony Cariglia, Hunter Bryant Meeks, Asher Wade Meeks, Quino D’Alvy Green, Konner James Meeks, Layla Jaye Green, Chloe Brooke Meeks, Katharine Elena Talia Meeks, Ari Elijah Green, Elliot Thomas Guarardo, Theodore Alexander Guarardo, Jordan Adeline Reed, Jackson Monroe Reed, Madeleine Elise Pittman, Ryan Wade Pittman, and Connor Campbell.

The Meeks family are deeply grateful to ALL members of The James Place in Dublin for their love and dedicated personal care for Mama. Also, a deep gratitude to mama’s personal daily caregiver Sherrie Pullen of Wrightsville; A warm heartfelt praise for Tamika Jones of Georgia Hospice Care; who’s dedicated, devoted, and daily loving care for mama was the literal sunshine of her mornings for an extended time until the end; our family will not forget you and all the Georgia Hospice care team. To all of Mama’s caregivers: she loved you and was genuinely grateful.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 4th at Riverside Cemetery in Macon. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate.

Pallbearers will be David Pittman, Brian Campbell, Will Meeks, Matthew Meeks, William Meeks IV, Quino Green, Hunter Meeks, Asher Meeks, Konner Meeks, and Tanner Meeks.
