Mary Anne Russell Purvis, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 84 in Macon, GA. Born on December 8, 1940, in Dublin, GA, Mary was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, faith, and passion.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Donald Willis Purvis, her parents, James Randall Russell and Wilma Hall Russell, and her sister, Kaye Russell Smalley.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her son, Kelly R. Purvis of Panama City, Florida, and her daughter, Donna A. (Lyle) Schoeneck of Cumming, GA. She also leaves behind her siblings, Caroline Russell (Billy) Johnson of Conyers, Lynelle Russell (Ed) Brown of Gainesville, and Lowell (Carol) Russell of Brunswick. Her life was further enriched by the joy of her four beautiful grandchildren, who will carry her spirit forward.
Her professional life was marked by her dedicated service at Piedmont Hospital, where she worked in the business office. Her colleagues knew her as a hardworking and compassionate individual who brought warmth and efficiency to every task she undertook.
A devout member of West Highland Baptist Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She lived her beliefs through her actions, radiating kindness and support to everyone around her. Mary's love for reading provided her with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that she generously shared with others. Her passion was evident in the way she cared for her two dogs, Angie and Foxie, and her cat, Bobo. Mary Anne’s pets were her cherished companions, and she ensured they were loved and well-cared for.
Her life was characterized by her unwavering kindness. Those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her were often touched by her gentle demeanor and her willingness to help others. Her faith-filled nature was an inspiration, guiding her through life's challenges and joys with grace and strength. Her passion for life was contagious, and she eagerly embraced every new day with optimism and a smile.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, June 8, 2025 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jeff Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
