Mary Margaret Murphree Willis

Mary Margaret Murphree Willis of Doraville, departed for her heavenly home Friday, January 17, 2025.

Ms. Willis was born in Meridian, MS to the late Leland Charles Murphree, Sr. and Ethel Louise Green Murphree.

Mary Margaret was also preceded in death by her brother, Leland Charles Murphree, Jr.

She graduated from Gainesville High School in Gainesville, GA, as Salutatorian and the University of Georgia, Magna cum laude and was member of Phi Beta Phi, and Keppa Delta Pi.  Ms. Willis was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church, Decatur, GA and was also a member of Jubalheirs- Jubal Ministries, Inc.  

She is survived by one son, Dr. Richard Lance Willis of Sahuarita, AZ

Services for Ms. Willis were held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel, Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, Dublin. She was buried on her family lot at Northview Cemetery, in Dublin, GA.   A memorial concert will be held at Briarlake Church, Tuesday, January 28 at 1:00 PM.
