Mary Sue Lane Crittenden, of Dunwoody, Ga. was born September 13, 1931, in Leesburg, Florida to the late Thomas and Annie Mae Lane. The wife of the late Albert Leroy (Roy) Crittenden, Mary Sue departed this world on October 5, 2024, and is now present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Shortly after her birth, Mary Sue’s father moved his family of three to Dublin, Georgia. Mary Sue grew up in a warm and caring community where she made many friends that she considered family. She was adored by not only the small town of Dublin but also her many aunts and uncles, most of whom resided in Jackson, Georgia. After obtaining her nursing degree at Georgia Baptist, she returned to Dublin and worked in the V.A. hospital. It is during this time that she met Roy. They married five months later. In 1976, Roy’s work brought them to Dunwoody, Georgia. They settled here to raise their two sons, Tom and Bill. She and Roy were active members of Perimeter Church. Mary Sue loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved her community. She was gentle, kind-hearted, and witty. Her infectious smile and her caring spirit, made everyone she met feel as if they were the most precious person in the world.
Mary Sue is survived by her son, William (Bill) Reid Crittenden, daughter-in-law, Terese Crittenden, and grandsons William Reid Crittenden, Jr. and Liam Robertson Crittenden. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Albert Leroy (Roy) Crittenden, and son, Thomas Lane Crittenden.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 1 PM in Dublin, Ga at Northview Cemetery. There will also be a celebration of life in North Atlanta at Perimeter Church in John’s Creek on November 7, 1 PM.
