Mildred I. Helms

Mrs. Mildred I. Helms, age 92 of Wrightsville passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018.  Mrs. Helms was a native of Hickory, NC and was the daughter of the late Glen Hollar and the late Mary Deal Hollar and was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Helms.

She won the first drag race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Women’s Division.  She loved being outside, had a green thumb and loved people.  Mrs. Helms taught Sunday School and was an avid painter.  She was a homemaker and hairdresser.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Helms (Wayne) Frost of Jacksonville, FL, son, Michael Helms of Wrightsville, grandchildren, Shelley Frost (Bobby) Roberts, Mark W. Frost, Heather Frost (Michael) Franklin, Michelle Helms (Dustin) Carter. 6 great grandchildren.

 Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 14, 2018, in the Chapel of Townend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.  Pastor Kirk Hagan will officiate.  Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
