Murry Allen Chappell Jr., “Mac”, a successful business owner of Downtown Service Center for over fifty years and a lifelong resident of Dublin, Georgia, passed away on January 10, 2025.
Mac is preceded in death by his father, Murray Allen Chappell; mother, Margarette Hodges Chappell; sister, Annelle Chappell; and brother, Robert Chappell. He is survived by his lifetime partner, Diana “Dee” Scott, his son, David “DJ” Scott; his sisters, Peggy Reed (Larry), Jo Ann Manning (Buster), and Betty Brown (Keith), three grandchildren: Madelyn Rhae Scott, Emri Claire Scott, and Nash Harrison Scott, and several nieces and nephews.
Mac was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia on October 21, 1950, to Margarette and Murray Chappell. He was a proud Eagle Scout. He graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in History. Mac was a devoted father and avid mechanic. He enjoyed traveling, working on vehicles, and being outdoors.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all of those who knew him.
A funeral service celebrating Mac’s life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery.Rev. Jeremy Ikner will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Scouts of America in Mac’s honor.
