Myra Fordham Childers, age 78, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Dublin, Georgia. Born on Christmas Eve in 1947, Myra's life was a reflection of her loving nature and unwavering spirit. She was predeceased by her parents, Alva J. and Pearlie Fordham; her husband, Clayton Childers; her children, Scott and Laura Childers; and her sister, Darlene Fordham.
Myra's memory will be treasured by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Charles Taylor; daughter-in-law, Tracy Childers; grandsons, James (Amber) Childers and Nick Childers; great-grandchildren, Liam Michael Childers and Levi Scott Childers; two sisters, Alva Garnell Scoggins and Gloria Kenure; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
During her younger years, she attended Brewton Parker College; Myra's intellectual curiosity and work ethic led her to a distinguished career. She dedicated many years to the Defense Commissary Agency (DECA) at Fort Lee, Virginia, and later served the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration as an administrative assistant until her well-earned retirement.
Myra's zest for life was evident in her love for traveling. She embraced the opportunity to explore new places and cultures, infusing her life with adventure and stories to share. An avid reader, Myra could often be found engrossed in action-packed and mystery novels, delighting in the twists and turns of each plot.
Described by those who knew her as fiercely loving, Myra's legacy is one of compassion and kindness. She had a heart that knew no bounds, and her unwavering support for her family and friends was the cornerstone of her existence. Her laughter, warmth, and guidance will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Robbie Passmore officiating. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
